Responding to an MCI

1.    Click on Stop Alert! Read the message. Notify ED Staff of MCI.

2.    Input data on how many Immediate, Delayed and Minor patients you can take.

3.    Click "Submit".

 

If you miss the poll notification, you can always update your ED Capacity from the MCI page.


 

Updating ED Capacity

1.    Open the "MCI" tab.

2.    Click "Update Capacity".

3.    Select "Drill" or "Actual".

a.    If there are multiple MCI's, this will update all drill or actual MCI's.

4.    Input your Immediate, Delayed and Minor ED capacities.

5.    Click "Submit".

 

Receiving an Ambulance

If an ambulance is sent to your hospital, a box will pop up and notify you of this.

Arriving an Ambulance

Initiating an MCI

1.    Open the "MCI" module.

3.    Select the MCI type, either "Drill" or "Actual".

4.    Optionally, you may add an emergency level and category.

5.    Input a name for the MCI.

6.    Input the city and location.

a.    If the MCI location doesn't have a specific address (ie - along the highway, in a park, etc), you may switch to map view.

b.    Click on "Map View".

c.     Move the MCI identifier to its location on the map.

7.    Input the number of estimated patients.

8.    Select whichever facilities you would like to notify about the MCI. You may use the "Select All", "Facility Types" and "Response Groups" features.

9.    Click "Initiate" to start the MCI immediately, or "Schedule" to start the MCI at a later time.


 

Schedule an MCI

Note: if you use the scheduler, please read the description carefully to get the desired frequency.

1.    Select how often you would like the MCI to initiate.

2.    Input when you would like the MCI to initiate.

Managing an MCI

Re-Poll an MCI

To re-poll an MCI, either click "Re-poll all" or click "Re-poll" next to individual facilities.

Add Hospitals

If you want to change the facilities receiving your MCI, you can do so from the "Add Hospitals" feature.

1.    Click "Add Hospitals".

2.    Select whichever additional facilities you would like to notify about the MCI. You may use the "Select All", "Facility Types" and "Response Groups" features.

3.    Click "Submit".


 

Send Ambulance

Note: only the facility that is managing the MCI may send ambulances.

1.    Click "Send Ambulance".

2.    Select which facility you would like to send the ambulance to. Their ED Capacity will automatically appear on the screen.

3.    Choose the ambulance carrier.

4.    Input the number of immediate, delayed and/or minor patients.

5.    Click the red ü.

6.    Input information including unit number, patients and triage tags.

a.    If you are using a mobile device, you may scan triage tags by clicking the button.

b.    Hold the camera over a triage tag barcode, and your device will automatically scan the code and add it to the Triage Tag field.

7.    Optionally, you may add a California Unified Patient Tracking System ("CUPTS") number.

8.    Optionally, you may add the patient's chief complaint.

9.    You may click the "+" to add additional patients.

10. Click "Submit".


 

End or Close an MCI

Step 1

1.    Click "Edit".

2.    Click on the Status dropdown.
